Britney Spears: Touch Of My Hand

June 1, 2008-June 7, 2008

Genre: Pop

Mood: Horny, Craving for sex

May be dedicated to: The horny you (more suitable if you’re a girl)

“Touch Of My Hand” is VJ Czar World’s newest Song of the Week. It is the eighth track of Britney Spears’ fourth studio album entitled “In The Zone”.

Written by Jimmy Harry, Balewa Muhammad (co-composer of Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty”), Shep Soloman and Britney Spears herself, this song highly contains sexually suggestive lyrics. It became Spears’ way of telling her fans she’s already grown up and can now legally experience the sexual thing.

Together with the album’s fourth track “Breathe On Me”, “Touch Of My hand” became the target of music critics. One critic characterized it as an “ode to masturbation”.

Although it created a big impact on both critics and fans, it was never released as a single. Had it been that Britney didn’t suffer a knee injury, it might have been done so.

I’m not ashamed of the things that I dream

I find myself flirting with the verge of obscene

Into the unknown, I will be bold

I’m going to places I can be out of control

And I don’t want to explain tonight

All the things I’ve tried to hide

I shut myself out from the world so I

Can draw the blinds and I’ll teach myself to fly

I love myself, it’s not a sin

I can’t control what’s happenin’

‘Cause I just discovered

Imagination’s taking over

Another day without a lover

The more I come to understand the touch of my hand

The small of my back, the arch of my feet

Lately I’ve been noticin’ the beautiful on me

I’m all in my skin and I’m not gonna wait

I’m into myself in the most precious way

And I don’t want to explain tonight

All the things I’ve tried to hide

I shut myself out from the world so I

Can draw the blinds and I’ll teach myself to fly

‘Cause I just discovered

Imagination’s taking over

Another day without a lover

The more I come to understand the touch of my hand

There’s a world undefined

In my body and mind

I won’t be left behind

I’m already here

‘Cause I just discovered

Imagination’s taking over

Another day without a lover

The more I come to understand the touch of my hand

‘Cause I just discovered

Imagination’s taking over

Another day without a lover

The more I come to understand the touch of my hand

Piece Of Me: The Exposed and Unexposed Derrière Versions

Piece Of Me US Version

Piece Of Me US Version (with ass exposure)

Piece Of Me International Version

Piece Of Me International Version (with ass exposure)

Piece Of Me International Version (not yet completely edited)

Wayne Isham directed this paparazzi-themed music video. He had formerly worked with Britney Spears in the video “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman”, a single from her third album “Britney” and also, in the 2002 international Pepsi commercial campaign.

“Piece Of Me” was rumored to have a budget of about $500,000. If this is true, then it would be Britney’s second most expensive video (“Toxic” comes first.). However, you may agree with me that this buzz is way too unbelievable. I myself, must say that I didn’t see any luxurious stuff in the entire duration of the video.

Just like “Gimme More”, “Piece Of Me” has various versions. The two main versions are the US version and the International Version. They differ at the beginning and some parts towards the end. The International version has an additional scene of Britney in a short wig.

These two main versions of the video still have “subclasses”. Hilariously, the basis of difference is the “whether-or-not-Britney’s-ass-is-exposed”. This twist happens during the singing of the line, “They’re still gonna put pictures of my derriere in the magazine”.

However, another “Piece Of Me” version had leaked on YouTube which is definitely unofficial. It was the not-completely-edited “Piece Of Me” International Version which shows Britney in a chroma background.

The Various Versions of Gimme More

Gimme More (slightly edited Main Version)

Gimme More (with a bit of mature content)

Gimme More 2nd Version/Music Choice

Directed by the amateur-director-at-that-time Jake Sarfaty, this music video became the impetus of Britney Spears’ attempt to go back to the music industry. Although, reviews are mixed, it definitely supported the single outstandingly, making it rise at #3 in the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks.

“Gimme More” was shot in a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles for two non-consecutive days. The whole concept of the video was purely Spears’. There were several concepts that were taken before the final concept was agreed upon. Some of them were complex and very far from the simple stripper-inspired final idea.

This music video has a number of versions. The streaming video on the extreme top is the main version. The following ones are the others that I found on YouTube. The difference between them is the range of exposure of Britney’s flesh. The main version is a bit wholesome whereas the other versions are more mature almost of Spears’ breasts. Music Choice is the official exhibitor of the more mature Gimme More 2nd Version.

The March 24 episode of How I Met Your Mother which Britney appeared attracted about 3.5 million viewers. That was so far the greatest traffic the said comedy sitcom ever had.

Earlier, actor Neil Patrick Harris commented that a famous icon like Britney Spears is not needed for boosting the ratings of HIMYM. He shortly clarified his statement and said that he'll be glad to work with her again.

In this episode, the pop princess plays as Abby, a receptionist who has a big crush on Ted (Josh Radnor) and…hey, I’m not gonna tell the whole thing to you. I think it’s better if you’re gonna see it through your own eyes, you know.

So you won’t waste time browsing on YouTube. I’ve already embedded the 5 streaming videos below. Just so you know, these doesn't show the complete episode, okay. These are just clips that showcase Britney's part in the show. At first, I never thought Britney would make me laugh. But, it seemed like she did. I was laughing most of the time watching these videos. Well, maybe I’m just too “Britney fanatic”.

Anyways, this show tells us that the pop princess whom we know is still the pop princess capable of rocking our world. I believe she’s gotten well. I hope she’s already set to fully return to music and be able to retain the respect she truly deserves.

Britney Spears' "Break the Ice": A Flyer or A Diver?

Recently, Jive Records officially released "Break the Ice" as the third single from Britney Spears' fifth studio album "Blackout". This song is written by Nate "Danja" Hills (who also wrote the smash hit “Gimme More”), Marcella "Ms. Lago" Araica, Keri Hilson and James Washington. It was chosen as the third single probably because of its strong demand to fans. Prior to its release, “Break the Ice” already charted on the Billboard Pop 100 at #75 and #72 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs. After the worldwide success of “Gimme More” and “Piece of Me”, Britney.com conducted a poll asking the fans what song they like to be Britney’s next single. “Break the Ice” got the highest number of votes in the end of the poll.

Regarding on its reception to critics, fans and listeners, “Break the Ice” mostly received positive reviews and praises. According to them, it has the potential to be another Britney Spears worldwide hit. However, some negative-minded people would try to criticize the song, saying it is similar to “I’m A Slave 4 U” and its musical style is mostly likely inclined with Janet Jackson’s style.

On the other hand, as usual, the whole world is more excited about the single’s accompanying music video rather than the single itself. Britney Spears is renowned in having buzz-worthy music videos such as “Toxic” and “Everytime”. But this time, most fans, if not all, were shocked that the “Break the Ice” music video will star Britney…in animé form. The music video gained mixed responses. But most of them, as what the fans commented on Britney.com, are negative, stating they were disappointed and pleading for a remake. Those who are positive contend that the “Break the Ice” video is fresh, unique, new and full of hidden messages that the pop princess wanted to say.

Here’s the music video for “Break the Ice”.

Now, by listening to the song and watching its accompanying music video, does it have a potential to be another “Gimme More”? Is it outstanding? Is it a flyer or a diver?Make sure to leave a comment, ok?
