Philippines Hot 100???
Finally, the
Last January 2008, an unknown Multiply.com account holder established the Philippines Hot 100 bearing the URL http://billboardphilippines.multiply.com/. This chart is highly based on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 which, is the most famous and reliable music data source in the
The Philippines Hot 100 tabulates radio airplays, music station requests and internet downloads around the country. The chart is being updated every Saturday.
Unlike the real Hot 100, the Philippines Hot 100 seems to be nothing but an unofficial chart made by a certain big fan of music. The URL tells it so. The creator of this chart seems to have no enough funds to buy his/her own domain. If the Philippines Hot 100 is an official chart, then it’s URL must be in the form of http://www.(site’s name).com/, or its location must be within Billboard.com.
Well anyways, whether it is official or not, it’s still good to hear that the
The Philippines Hot 100’s URL has just been moved to http://www.freewebs.com/billboardphilippines/... a much worse URL name than the previous one. Its first number one hit is “Your Guardian Angel” by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus posted last January 28, 2008. So far, the chart has had five #1s.
Some of the music-related contents on Wikipedia already show information that comes from the Philippines Hot 100. I’m pretty sure that the one who did that was the creator himself/herself. Good job!

Britney Spears' "Break the Ice": A Flyer or A Diver?
Recently, Jive Records officially released "Break the Ice" as the third single from Britney Spears' fifth studio album "Blackout". This song is written by Nate "Danja" Hills (who also wrote the smash hit “Gimme More”), Marcella "Ms. Lago" Araica, Keri Hilson and James Washington. It was chosen as the third single probably because of its strong demand to fans. Prior to its release, “Break the Ice” already charted on the Billboard Pop 100 at #75 and #72 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs. After the worldwide success of “Gimme More” and “Piece of Me”, Britney.com conducted a poll asking the fans what song they like to be Britney’s next single. “Break the Ice” got the highest number of votes in the end of the poll.
Regarding on its reception to critics, fans and listeners, “Break the Ice” mostly received positive reviews and praises. According to them, it has the potential to be another Britney Spears worldwide hit. However, some negative-minded people would try to criticize the song, saying it is similar to “I’m A Slave 4 U” and its musical style is mostly likely inclined with Janet Jackson’s style.
On the other hand, as usual, the whole world is more excited about the single’s accompanying music video rather than the single itself. Britney Spears is renowned in having buzz-worthy music videos such as “Toxic” and “Everytime”. But this time, most fans, if not all, were shocked that the “Break the Ice” music video will star Britney…in animé form. The music video gained mixed responses. But most of them, as what the fans commented on Britney.com, are negative, stating they were disappointed and pleading for a remake. Those who are positive contend that the “Break the Ice” video is fresh, unique, new and full of hidden messages that the pop princess wanted to say.
Here’s the music video for “Break the Ice”.
Now, by listening to the song and watching its accompanying music video, does it have a potential to be another “Gimme More”? Is it outstanding? Is it a flyer or a diver?Labels: britney spears, music news
